-GOODBYE GUITAR

The bartender stared at me funny when I walked into the bar. I went up to the counter and ordered a beer, he didn’t speak English, so I
just said, “Cervasa Budweiser, pur favor” he smiled and slid a cold long neck across the bar. He continued to stare at me smiling trying
to figure out what I was doing in his bar. He asked me something in Spanish and I didn’t understand, so he asked me again, this time
he pointed down the bar at a 50 year old man with a blush covered five o’clock shadow wearing a lovely sequin gown and a blonde wig
that hung down his back. The only word I understood was “Senorito”. I got it and answered back, “Oh, No, Nooooo! I’m not looking for a
senorito but they are Muey Bueno”.

The club I was at was a Transvestite club that held Drag Shows but then turned into a punk rock club once a week. I was going to record
the next show (punk rock that is) so I dropped in to check out the club.

Tony Gilkyson was on the bill. On the night of the show I approached him when he was plugging in his amp. I introduced myself and
said that I thought we had a mutual friend. He turned his head up to me like, “Oh shit, who from the past is going to haunt me” and he
replied, “is that right.”

Tony had played with Larry Hosford in the seventies and I had seen him with X. Larry’s our mutual friend.

Soon after I drug Larry to Los Angeles and recorded The Country and Mexican album. It all lined up where Tony played guitar with Larry
again for the first time in almost 20 years.

Anyways, what can I say next thing you know we have this amazing new Tony Gilkyson record.
